ONE PIECE Season 2 expanded the series’ visual effects ambitions, bringing new Devil Fruit powers, larger-than-life characters, and fan-favorite creatures to life while maintaining the grounded realism established in Season 1. The work spanned complex character creation, performance-driven animation, and large-scale effects integration across more than 570 shots.
A key achievement was the introduction of Tony Tony Chopper, a fully CG character whose appeal relied on nuanced facial performance, emotional authenticity, and seamless interaction within a live-action world. The season also introduced new supernatural abilities, including Smoker’s dynamic smoke powers and Wapol’s transformative anatomy, each requiring extensive look development and bespoke technical solutions to balance stylization with physical credibility.
From creature work and character animation to transformative effects and digital environments, the visual effects helped translate the imagination, scale, and heart of the beloved manga into a cinematic live-action experience.
