If the experience of judging AEAF entries has shown us one thing this year, it’s that the craft and business of creating VFX and animation is changing fast. As the need for speed has continued to grow, building efficiency and optimisation into pipelines has become more important.
But the desire to see exciting, beautiful and emotive work on screens – all screens, from tiny to huge – is still strong, maybe more than it ever was. That desire has led to advances in virtual production, volumetric assets, game engine applications and automation – all of which you can watch in the projects in the reels below. Watching will also convince you that none of those techniques, or even artificial intelligence, can make a difference without creativity, artistry and great stories.
