Feature Film VFX
Top Gun: Maverick
Framestore
Framestore's Melbourne studio, at the time Method Studios, were thrilled to lend their skills to the much anticipated Top Gun sequel. The adrenaline-fuelled feature presented a complex challenge when it came to visual effects, with many sequences that feature four jets, two teams of two, that are flying into the final mission or various training missions. Typically, these were shot those with one or two F-18s, and the team then added the other F-18s in those formations. Having to produce a CG jet that would share a shot with the real thing set the bar extremely high, as well as finer details such as adding vapour trails.
